Formed our Medical Advisory Board.
Presenter to In Home Support Staff (IHSS) client assesment staff to help them better understand the idiosyncrasies of epilepsy and it's affects.

Our 2nd annual Top TEN Tournament, a beach volleyball event and raffle at the Santa Cruz Main Beach, drew quite a crowd while helping raise money and awareness about epilepsy.
Started FOCUS GROUPS to delve deeper into specific topics such as Memory Issues, Special Education, Women's Issues.
Presenter at Santa Cruz County Office of Education Special Education Staff Development Conference.
Our Starbucks Sweetheart Campaign not only raised money, but also increased awareness so much that it actually doubled attendance at our Support and Information Nights! What a success!

2003
Susan Hogue, our Executive Director, spoke on the Lanterman Act at this year's annual Legislative Breakfast.
Contacted SBC-Pacific Bell Telephone Company and provided information to correct and improve the SBC Telephone Directories' First Aid and Survival Guide Seizure Procedures, beginning this year with California's Directories.
Established Cabrillo Community College task force to develop educational opportunities for students with learning and/or developmental disabilities whose cognitive abilities are below 12th grade level, which is required for most classes.
Continuing community outreach through Seizure Recognition and First Aid Training.
On-going support for anyone whose life is touched by epilepsy. There are approximately 4,500 people with epilepsy, just in Santa Cruz County!
2002
Opened Resource Center to offer printed information and videos relating to epilepsy, in English and Spanish, in addition to a guest computer with DSL Internet access for global research.
Hosted 1st Top TEN Tournament for volleyball players at the Santa Cruz Main Beach to promote seizure awareness and help raise money.
Began providing Seizure Recognition and First Aid Training Seminars for schools and businesses throughout Santa Cruz County.
Updated Santa Cruz County Emergency Communications (911) seizure protocol to include vagus nerve stimulator information.
Established web siteto disseminate information and referrals on a 24/7 basis.
2001
Began holding bi-monthly Information and Support Meetings at Dominican Hospital's Education Center (see EVENTS page for next meeting).
Established the only non-profit corporation in Santa Cruz County solely dedicated to supporting people with epilepsy.
